Aug. 3, 2006 - An Evening at the Dirt Track

The M&Ms Night of Stars at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri

This is an annual fundraiser for the Victory Junction Camp, the Petty family's charity for handicapped children.  Various NASCAR drivers come down to this little 1/3 mile dirt track in tiny Pevely, MO, to raise money for the Camp.  Some of the drivers in attendance were Kenny Wallace, Kenny Schrader, Martin Truex Jr, Matt Kenseth, Rusty Wallace and more.

But here's the real reason people come here...

Here come the late models, four wide around turn four...

These folks are beggin' to be hit by flying dirt...

Some of these drivers seem sooo one(or maybe two)-dimensional

She didn't even card me...

Not that you can see 'em, but those are the NASCAR guys with their Modified's after their race

Don't look down. Don't look down!  Dammit!

Whee!  More fun with the late models.

This just about captures the feel...

Not exactly a night at the Opera, but you don't get the smell of burning fuel and rubber at La Boheme.
