The ///M-Powered Expatriate

• Thursday, November 10, 2005 - A Few Page Update Notes

Regular visitors to this and other RoadFly blog pages will no doubt note that I have heavily-edited the default page template to create a more unique (and hopefully, easy-to-use) experience for my visitors.  I'm constantly making small adjustments here and there to further improve this resource, but my purpose today is simply to call attention to a few of the URL additions to my "External Links" listing in the narrow column at right.

Many, if not most, of the links provided will be familiar to seasoned readers; however, there are a few with which you may not be immediately acquainted.  Chief among these (no pun intended) is the BWM Club Europa site, which provides an excellent English-language overview of BMW Club activities and organization throughout Europe.  This will be of special interest to those making European vacation plans, for instance, as you can locate relevant clubs at your destination, review event calendars, and learn about opportunities which might otherwise go undiscovered.  Whether your dream is to navigate the high passes of the Swiss Alps, or to pit your skills against western Germany's legendary Nόrburgring, the chances are good that an affiliated club has already organized something worth exploring.

Many M3 owners express an interest in knowing more about the assembly plant where their vehicle was manufactured, but often aren't sure where that is.  Contrary to popular belief, the M3 is not built in Munich, but rather in Regensburg.  This charming city --indeed the actual production plant -- sits on the foundations of a former Roman outpost, and plant tours at the BMW Werk there are available (generally in German).  The web site also provides a competent overview of the production process, for those unlikey to ever make such a trip.

Another site which should be bookmarked by every owner of the E46 M3 is the MadRussian M3 site.  Whether you're looking for a comprehensive DIY tutorial, a specific aftermarket product review, or clear photos of a non-standard body color, Mike's MadRussian site should be your first destination.  More often than not, it will also be your last, as the depth of content and clarity that you'll find there is truly second-to-none.  If you're one of the few ///Mthusiasts who has yet to discover this virtual gold mine, drop whatever it is that you're doing and go take a look.

See you next time ...
