Audi's diesel sports car is no joke

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Around here, at least, the mention of the phrase "diesel sports car" might conjure up such other seemingly oxymoronic images as "diet cheesecake," "flannel bikini" and "Will Ferrell as Hamlet."

"In America, probably people think, what are they doing with this strange and slow package?" Pirro said in a conference call Wednesday with American and Canadian reporters. "They probably associate diesel with noise and low performance and smoke and everything which is opposite to a race car.

"But you know, this is not the only thing where people have to change an opinion. The world is developing, and people will soon learn that a diesel car of this millennium is far different from what we thought when diesel cars started to appear on the road."
