MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Around here, at least, the mention of the phrase
"diesel sports car" might conjure up such other seemingly oxymoronic
images as "diet cheesecake," "flannel bikini" and "Will Ferrell as
Hamlet."
"In America, probably people think, what are they doing with this
strange and slow package?" Pirro said in a conference call Wednesday
with American and Canadian reporters. "They probably associate diesel
with noise and low performance and smoke and everything which is
opposite to a race car.
"But you know, this is not the only thing where people have to
change an opinion. The world is developing, and people will soon learn
that a diesel car of this millennium is far different from what we
thought when diesel cars started to appear on the road."
